An organization wishing to support the CBP may decide to provide its support by providing funds in the following areas:
- The funds to be used specifically for particular aspects of the Project, for example, purchase of books only, training only, project support activities only, administrative activities only, etc.
- The funds may be tied to particular areas of the country e.g. a donor may decide to support schools within one, two or more districts or regions.
- A donor may decide to support other schools that are not provided with books and training opportunities by the CBP. This would help to extend reading to many more
schools in the country.
The following are activities of which a donor may choose to support for the years 2007 and 2008:
Readership Programme
Training of teachers in reading skills in selected schools is the main activity.
Training of Trainers (TOT), particularly tutors for grade A teachers is another activity of the programme.
Other activities which take place alongside the Programme are production of printed materials, children's Book Day and Reading Competitions.
The costs are:
- Training of Trainers USD 25,834.00
- Training of teachers in schools USD 21,840.00
- Monitoring of schools USD 10,480.00
- Production and Distribution of printed materials USD 15,000.00
- Children's Book Day and Reading competitions USD 15,000.00
- Community libraries USD 3,000.00
- Childrens reading tents USD 10,000.00

Purchase of Books
(a) New Books
A maximum of 10 titles of children's books are expected to be
purchased per year. Five thousand copies will be purchased at
an average of USD 3.5 per copy.

Produced in collaboration between teachers and pupils

(c) Braille Books
Five (5) books will be turned into braille per year and be distributed

Stakeholders Training
CBP intends to organise training workshops for book designers
and illustrators and support Writers Associations:
(a) Book Designers and Illustrators

(b) Writers' Associations
The Children's Book Project will continue to support
Writers Associations in evaluating manuscripts and training
in writing skills. This will be in a form of three-day workshops
with only one resource person.
